Has Profy shut down its blogging platform ?
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 | Tech news
The latest entry in blogging service providers was Profy, a Russian startup which gave its service as social networking sort of blogging. That’s fine. Also i looked upon it promising that it would provide some very good service after its major downtime. But several weeks back everyone who had his/her blog on profy must have got message to backup their profy data as they were going for some transition period for major developments. I had contacted profy when it was just started and they said response was quite good from public. But now its seems after a long time that they have shut down their blogging platform and only thing they do is write tech news and latest web 2.0 happenings on their profy blog. I contacted again to profy why it was taking so long for their logging service to come back live and they said its still under development. Today i again tried to open and here is what i get :
The Profy blogging platform is currently suspended for transition. We apologize for the inconvenience and will appreciate your patience. Feel free to contact Svetlana Gladkova at s.gladkova@profy.com with any questions you may have.
Its seem they are now not as enthusiastic about blogging developments as they seemed when they started because i have never heard about whats going about their blogging service, when would it become live again for their users. They just blog about tech news like sites like Tech Crunch do. It seems to me as they must have felt like not favourable in blogging field and just shifted their attention towards just blogging about online news or they should have officially blogged about developments on their blogging service.
Now this is one proof which seems to say that their startup was just publicity stunt and nothing else than to promote their tech blog.
We will wait for next 8 weeks and see whether they still resume their blogging service and if not, it would be clear that they just wanted to gain popularity and readers for their blog (which is tough in today’s time) by just opening a sucking blog platform (yeah, it didn’t have much features, hmmm, no, no features at all, they were yet to add some and those social features never came).
