Google adds Video chat and Voice chat to Gmail talk
Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | Tech news
The latest news is that Gtalk will now support Video chat and voice chat. This are some great news for gtalk addicts. Google released new version of google talk as its lab edition on 7th April this year with drawbacks as unable to support voice and video chat. Now that update comes as well. You wont need to download any new messenger, just get that update plugin which you can get it by visiting this official google blog post. You don’t need to open any other application to start Video and voice chat, all is seamlessly integrated in one. So text, video and voice in one. Skype and other video providers now need to watch out from google because it is known to dominate any market it enters into. Most webmasters use google talk and this can be goo news if you want to talk online. This feature has been designed with Internet standards such as RTP, H.264 and XMPP, meaning this open source feature can be used by other apps on your PC (Third party apps).
You will soon see this feature in your Gmail inbox also. This feature has been especially developed by engineers in Sweden office. I don’t want to copy paste the instructions on using this feature because you can get it from official google’s post (I have linked above). If this feature turns out to provide really good uninterruptible video and voice quality, then skype will face real problem. Time for Ebay to look for skype buyers !
