AVG version 8

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 10:08 am

Avglogo So after recent release of Mozilla Firefox beta versions 3.0 and 4.0 , AVG also now released AVG 8.0 succeeding version 7.5 . I currently have AVG 7.5 which is fine and satisfied with its performance. Some features of AVG 8 :

Advantages : It offers download protection, anti-root kit , anti-spyware and of course anti-virus. It will be light on system resources. It is highly efficient in finding viruses and malicious codes, spywares, more technical support provided.

Disadvantage : Current tests show that it has slow scanning, means takes more time for scanning and booting but reports also say that individual components of AVG 8 load faster.

An important feature that this version has is that it so called Linkscanner (Formerly from Exploit prevention lab) which will block malicious content of even hijacked websites online. Only problem is that it scans slow. Slower that sucking Norton ? Overall, its performance is not that bad, pretty good. Interference has been reported by ZDnet review as crowd. Better if they improve upon scanning speed. Because that’s one thing i look after. Norton of symantec used to slow down my PC and so i just got it off and had AVG.

Currently i don’t see my much need of upgrading it to version 8 as it has been reported to have a bit slow scanning and i don’t want that. Better stick it to AVG 7.5 , pretty silent and efficient. AVG official slogan says ‘ Tough on threats. Easy on you ‘. That’s something they prove, its efficient in removing viruses while easy as a system resource.
