Netbook. Yes, it isn’t spelling mistake. Netbook is a type of Notebook PC which performs simple tasks or rather primary tasks rather than heavy tasks for which we use mainstream models. Or you can even call it Sub-Notebook. Latest news is that lenovo is entering ‘Netbook’ market by releasing Ideapad S10. This can be used to perform simple tasks like checking mails, hear your favourite songs and running some basic applications. You maybe surprised that worldwide demand of Netbooks is high and is estimated to be nearly 9.2 million by 2012. So lenovo also doesn’t want to miss this chance.
Configuration - Lenovo Ideapad S10 will come with 10.2″ screen, has Wi-Fi and express card slot if you want to have high speed connectivity of Wi-Fi while on move. Amazingly it also has 4-in-1 multi card reader and inbuilt webcam. Also option of ‘One Key rescue system’ data recovery in case of system error or virus occurs. Lenovo has tried to reduce heating on bottom and palm (Key areas). Option of upgrading RAM upto 2 GB will be available hopefully and battery life will be 3-cell (3 hours) and 6-cell (6 hours). Various colour options in lenovo will also be available. India will have an option of 9 inch screen also.
Processor - Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz. Options you have in models :
1. 80 GB and 512 RAM
2. 160 GB and 1 GB RAM.
These Netbooks are expected to come in to market by October 2008 and will be available for about $400. Chinese will have these models in september. Lenovo is going to face competition from Asus Eee PC 901 but as far i see, lenovo is giving excellent configuration for pretty good price.
