Dell Inspiron 1525 Battery Life

Filed under: Laptop reviews — admin @ 9:53 am

I got to know that Dell Inspiron 1525 has got nearly 3 hours battery life when run under Windows vista with continuous wireless network in action :) (i love that). 3 hours battery life and that in vista OS with high performance isn’t that bad either, at least better than my sucking Compaq presario laptop which has got 2 hours battery life. Even 9 cell lithium ion battery is available but that will increase the size and stick out of laptop from behind. But still, i consider laptop should have at least 6 hours battery life. A standard i would need is 8 hours battery life which you can find in Toshiba models. One review i heard about this model is that it got inconsistent wi-fi due to driver flaws. (HP sucks at OS XP drivers, hey did i say suck ? i mean they dont have one for any XP OS).

  1. [...] battery life is ridiculous. You need minimum 6 hours otherwise whats the real purpose of laptop. Dell inspiron 1525 standard 6 lithium ion cell battery life is around 6 hours. That’s pretty fine. If you play [...]

  2. I have a brand new Inspiron 1525 and am getting 1.5 hours of Battery rundown. I have lowered all of my settings, the screen is barely visible.

Does anyone have insight as to why my battery is performing so badly.

    Thanks

  10. My Dell Inspiron 1525 was getting just over an hour of life out of a fully charged battery. I called them, they delivered a new one. Charged it full – WHILE OFF – and still…just over and hour! Am really freaking pissed off.

  15. I have had my dell Inspiron 1525 for 2 yrs and it does not keep charge at all. I have to keep it charging constantly when using it. Not only that, the charger just stopped working. I’m in college and I use my computer a lot. This computer also overheats. Ugh! I’m not liking this at all. I need something that will last a long time.

  16. I’ve had my Inspiron 1525 for a year and a half and I hardly used the battery compared to my last laptop, an HP. I had about 1.5-2 hours of battery power when it was new. My battery will not hold any charge at all and says “plugged in, not charging”. My laptop also overheats and shuts down. I got it to charge once in the last 3 months. The computer was shut off and unplugged for two days. The battery lasted half an hour after that.

From the research I’ve been doing, this model doesn’t come with recalibration software in bios to even recalibrate the battery. Dell seems to have made numerous models with faulty batteries, AC cords and internal charging issues.

This is my first and last Dell, that’s for sure.

  20. I have the Dell Inspiron 1525, had it just over a year now, purchased new from Dell and never has the battery laster more then 1 1/2 hours and now the laptop is telling me: “your battery is able to charge but has reached the end of it’s usuable life!”

    Comment by EB — October 5, 2010 @ 4:09 pm

  21. dell are sly they have a code in the battery and when you have recharged your battery 300 times it wont allow you to use your battery even tho nothing wrong with the battery they just want you to buy new batterys off them and coincidently it happens after warranty is up. there is away to reset recharge counter but ive been looking it up and it hasnt worked on my inspiron 1545 but might work on yours while turning pc on hold ctrl and M this will take you into a different mode but dont no much after that ill do more research and get back to your guys if you figure it out before i get back to you please post

  22. Ditto to all of the above. My friend has a MAC. When she is doing word processing and simply answering emails, it seemingly will last for hours and hours.
    I’m done with DELL.

  23. Yeah, I got this computer about 11 months ago, and my 6 cell battery? lasts 20 minutes tops. It’s complete crap.

  24. Needless to say I have the same issue with terrible battery life. From DAY ONE! I got my inspiron 1525 for Christmas 2008. It’s now 2 years old. I haven’t even bothered to buy a new battery. So disappointed with the battery life.

  26. I have the same problem as you guys with my battery, I have this laptop for a year now and the battery is dead, and when it was ok I was able to work on it for hour and a half at the most.Do I need to replase the battery or there is any solution for this???

  27. The battery backup of DELL Inspiron 1525 is just pathetic. Only the name suggests Inspiron, but nothing inspirational in the book. If on for more than 3 hrs, u can jst use it to iron ur clothes. It gets heated so much. Worst thing is, batter does not last for more thatn 30 minutes MAX. While buying, i thought this is an investment, now i feel it is an expense. The battery backup is JUST PATHETIC. DELL need to replace all our batteries else, sure that dell is going to see its decline because of the comments of its users like we ppl. DELL…PLEASE REPLACE MY LAPTOP…

  28. M quite relieved to know m not the only who faced 1.5hours of initial battery life which has finally died out since the past few months. My laptop is two or three years old.

M doing pretty fine with the plug in thing but lately i’ve been thinking ov replacing the battery. many websites claim the 6 cell to last upto 3 hours and the 9 cell, almost 6. is this true?

  31. I had to have a replacement battery from Dell 2-months after I bought the laptop from them. Replacement battery (under warranty) from Dell lasted about 3-months. Have had the ‘plugged in not charging’ message for the last six months at least. I used to like Dell products but this was my last – I have switched to ACER products now – excellent battery life – 8-hours min, up to 12hrs if I turn off wifi (while working). Combined with VISTA OS, the 1525 is a real ‘dud’. Thought about buying a replacement battery – but why bother if it is only going to last a few months!
