Don’t accept payments via credit card on paypal

Thursday, February 21st, 2008 | Freelancer

There was a latest post on freelance switch which cautions us that avoid taking payments via credit card or debit card(?possibly because it applies to credit card) in your paypal account. Because if someone has paid through his credit card,he can reverse the payment and have it back. In the case listed by Cara Williams on freelance switch, she did a project work and client being rude and unreasonable(as she says) told the credit card company and paypal to reverse his payment as he didn’t get what he wanted.

The author was in fix,her money gone(my condolence with you). She requested paypal, paypal told to e-mail credit card company but no response. Maybe the credit card company at clients place is being partial to their clients, preferably they would because they need the client, not that author. The paypal also said that as author didn’t come under seller protection policy of paypal, they cant do much except help her put up a case against that reversal. Shouldn’t have paypal first contacted the paypal holder before reversing the payment back to client?

Well, its happened. See that you read the terms, agreements and various other transaction policies, legal policies a bit carefully of your account.

UPDATE: Just forgot to say if you have reliable and long term client who have worked with you in past several times smoothly and trustworthily, then its no problem. But if its new one and seems a bit bad client in beginning, just make clear that you will have paypal-to-paypal payments.
