Dollar exchange reaches Rs.50 in India !

Filed under: Tech news — Tags: — admin @ 12:48 pm

If you today exchange one dollar in India, you would get whooping Rs. 50 per dollar. XE shows Rs. 49.1 for 1 dollar and in India i know you get a rupee more than that listed at XE. So finally the mark i wanted dollar to reach has reached. I would still suggest dollar to be at Rs. 45 for some healthy rupee because this shows how weak rupee has got against dollar. I hope rupee doesn’t get weaker than this because then its not good for economy also because developing countries import major things and lower currency value means more outflow of currency. The crude oil prices have been dropping but govt. still doesn’t think its right time to cut petrol prices in this environment of inflation where most basic amenities are as much costlier by 30-50 %. Dollar value is definitely high in India currently. This means if you buy any gadget or device from US, you need to pay about 25% more than what you would have paid 3 months back when dollar value was at Rs. 40 per unit.

Has Profy shut down its blogging platform ?

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 12:38 pm

The latest entry in blogging service providers was Profy, a Russian startup which gave its service as social networking sort of blogging. That’s fine. Also i looked upon it promising that it would provide some very good service after its major downtime. But several weeks back everyone who had his/her blog on profy must have got message to backup their profy data as they were going for some transition period for major developments. I had contacted profy when it was just started and they said response was quite good from public. But now its seems after a long time that they have shut down their blogging platform and only thing they do is write tech news and latest web 2.0 happenings on their profy blog. I contacted again to profy why it was taking so long for their logging service to come back live and they said its still under development. Today i again tried to open and here is what i get :

The Profy blogging platform is currently suspended for transition. We apologize for the inconvenience and will appreciate your patience. Feel free to contact Svetlana Gladkova at s.gladkova@profy.com with any questions you may have.

Its seem they are now not as enthusiastic about blogging developments as they seemed when they started because i have never heard about whats going about their blogging service, when would it become live again for their users. They  just blog about tech news like sites like Tech Crunch do. It seems to me as they must have felt like not favourable in blogging field and just shifted their attention towards just blogging about online news or they should have officially blogged about developments on their blogging service.

Now this is one proof which seems to say that their startup was just publicity stunt and nothing else than to promote their tech blog.

We will wait for next 8 weeks and see whether they still resume their blogging service and if not, it would be clear that they just wanted to gain popularity and readers for their blog (which is tough in today’s time) by just opening a sucking blog platform (yeah, it didn’t have much features, hmmm, no, no features at all, they were yet to add some and those social features never came).

Orkut adds ‘View this Conversation’ feature in scrapbook

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 2:28 pm

Just recently, Orkut has added a new feature for users. This is ‘View this Conversation’ in you scrapbook which lets you know what conversation you had with the person you scrapped. I suppose this a cool new and helpful feature that orkut has just added.

This feature is quite helpful. Every time you scrap to a lot of people and often you receive the scrap after a time period.Maybe you forget for what reason you scrapped the person that he scrapped you back. Clicking on this ‘View this conversation’ feature will show you your conversation. Also if you are sending and receiving scraps to a person on spot, say a lot of scraps you have send and opposite person has replied and you want to anytime check your scrap conversation, simply click on this new feature in your scrapbook scrap and you will see the conversation of yours with the opposite party.

With this feature, you wont now need to figure out what scraps had you send earlier and what discussion was going on and with one click get to know all your conversation on your screen.

When can we have free Anti-Virus Software?

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 11:09 am

Like Open source OS like Linux are distributed free to all, when can we have some very good Anti-virus software free for all computers owners ? Virus and Anti-Virus have created a business in themselves. Virus and Trojan makers make viruses and other destructive things for us while users daily update their Anti-virus database or buy new Anti-Virus software for a good price. Why doesn’t government or some other body distribute Anti-Virus software free to all so that productivity of people isn’t wasted on concerning about viruses and malwares instead create a business out of this. We spend quite a amount of million every year on computer security and specially on a good Anti-Virus software. Anti-Virus software in my view should be made free for all so we can sleep better and not run after formatting our notebooks or finding viruses and infected files on our laptop. (You think i am insane now ?)

Rupee still stays weaker, Dollar Value Rs. 49

Filed under: Tech news — Tags: — admin @ 10:59 am

Rupee has shown no signs of improvement and dollar value in india is nearly Rs. 50 per unit, the quite unexpected thing. Several weeks back, people who wished dollar value should increase in india upto Rs. 45 were praying for it. And now, dollar isn;t slipping even below Rs. 47 at any cost. Its all time between Rs. 48-49 and may be soon in a day or two it would cross Rs. 50 mark making headlines in newspaper here. Major problem in inflation which is at 11.5% in india.

Layoff’s the Trend

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 1:02 pm

World is facing big recession and this is no surprise for me. After every big baseless boom, there is a downturn. Same now. Property prices and other things of materialistic world were shooting up high like anything. That gave an hint about upcoming global recession. experts already warned about 4-5 months back when US was hit by Sub-prime housing and credit crisis which has led to create history records in business in US with MOST of companies, even the big names laying off thousands of workers, share’s dipping and market valuation of companies falling like anything. Laxmi Mittal has lost almost half of his wealth due to fall in shares. Yesterday ‘Zivity’ also announced that it will reduce it staff from 22 to 14 workers. Several bigger brands have curt operations, changed CEO’s and cut several part work force. Whole world is experiencing major layoff.

The no. of jobless has created history in US and several countries are trying to seal from US crisis effect, especially other world banks.

HP Pavilion S3401F Dual Core Athlon 5000+ Slimline PC

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 9:55 am

HP just rolled out new PC model in its Pavilion series, HP Pavilion S3401F with cheap price and mind blowing specs.

Configuration – 2.6 Ghz Dual core Athlon 64 x2 5000+ as processor. 2 GB DDR2 RAM (upgradable to 4 GB). 7200 RPM 360 GB SATA HDD ! That is pretty good Hard disk storage considering the price of this model, that too with 7200 rpm instead of 5400 RPM. Also has 16X DVD Writer/Player. Graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. 56 KBPS internal Modem. Plus you have PCI Express x16 card slot for video card upgradation. Supports Wi-Fi !

15-in-1 4 slot Memory card reader ! 6 USB 2.0 ports (4 at backside and 2 in front. That is now what you call ‘Applying brains’).

Asus Motherboard

OS – Windows Vista with media centre (32-bit). SP1 (Service Pack 1).

HP offers 1 year Warranty on this. If you are looking for cheap and solid PC for your home needs (Can i say office also?), then HP Pavilion S3401F is all you need. 360 GB HDD and Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g is something you wont find easily in desktops. Plus they have Dual core 2.6 GHz Athlon instead of Intel processor which we generally find in cheap PC’s. So one thing is that you can even play games like ‘GTA San Andreas’ or ‘NFS Most wanted’ smoothly. The base processor Athlon here is quite solid one so you wont complain about slow processor and less RAM. You may see a antenna also with PC for wireless LAN.

This model can sell like hot cakes in asian countries, especially in India due to low cost and solid configuration.

Price – $350

Filed under: Tech news — admin @ 2:12 pm

I still remember the times when cell phones used to be 10 inches long with only facility was to able to call someone at hefty rates. But time now has changed. All have sleek and trendy looking cheap cell phones withe extraordinary features. Its the age of iPhone and Blackberry. Blackberry is one of the best phones i have seen for business use. Several people in India still prefer Blackberry over iPhone due to its feature. Blackberry Storm is yet to come in November and is going to hit hard to apple iPhone in competition. It has some great features and even the look is quite good and attractive. It has all the features like GPRS, e-mail, chat, MS office, etc and a lot more. Even Blackberry Curve has great features with 4 different models available.
