Violence in Silicon Valley ?
Sunday, November 16th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
Some news often make you upset. Like recent news, an Indian origin CEO Sid Agrawal of a Radio semiconductor chips making company being killed by his lead test engineer who was laid off by him. Layoffs are common nowadays. The board of SiPort Inc. decided to layoff Jing Hua Wa during this economic crisis and he in turn after few days shot them (2 other i suppose) dead in their offices. Now that’s crazy. You don;t expect this in a region like Silicon Valley where Violence is unknown. Sid Agrawal was CEO and Director of the company. The killer (engineer) was then arrested. Why should one kill just because you get laid off ? That’s curious. But a place where growth and development of technology happens at every moment, The Silicon Valley, incidents like this just disturb the environment of growth. My condolence to his family members.

AMD to enter Netbook market soon
Friday, November 14th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
Until now, we had Intel’s Atom Processor in most of the netbooks announced by HP, Asus, Samsung, Dell and other brands. Now AMD has announced that it will soon enter netbook market. It wishes to sell netbooks having its processors. But there arises a lot fo questions whether it would consume more power because netbooks have smaller batter life compared to notebooks. Plus we can ex[pect to see some high quality graphics and high performance also with ability to play some good games (I don’t mean those flash types
). AMD i suppose would put its high end graphics card. The pricing should be cheap like Intel instead of putting high price because netbooks are meant to be cheap, we don’t care if AMD puts its better graphics card because that’s not what primarily netbooks are made for (We didn’t talked about gaming costly netbooks). AMD processors have made their way in desktops. AMD’s processors generate a lot of heat and that’s one problem. Well, lets see how it goes.
Yahoo messengers sucks !
Friday, November 14th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
Frankly, the only thing yahoo messenger can be used is for chatting or IM. I have never been able to call anyone in past 2 years on yahoo messenger. Also its video quality sucks. I suppose yahoo made the first IM and made it popular and then there were further no useful development. Yesterday i was chatting with my near ones in gulf and skype wasn’t working there so we shifted to yahoo. The only thing we could do was chat and just chat. The video quality sucked and i tried calling them on yahoo several times but the calls didn’t mature. If their call facility is not working then why do they keep, just to show off ? Also now Yahoo’s PC to Phone call service is handled by Jajah as they dealed back few months ago. Jajah also sucks in calling with several technical problems, both in calling and on their site issues. Yahoo really sucks !

Google adds Video chat and Voice chat to Gmail talk
Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
The latest news is that Gtalk will now support Video chat and voice chat. This are some great news for gtalk addicts. Google released new version of google talk as its lab edition on 7th April this year with drawbacks as unable to support voice and video chat. Now that update comes as well. You wont need to download any new messenger, just get that update plugin which you can get it by visiting this official google blog post. You don’t need to open any other application to start Video and voice chat, all is seamlessly integrated in one. So text, video and voice in one. Skype and other video providers now need to watch out from google because it is known to dominate any market it enters into. Most webmasters use google talk and this can be goo news if you want to talk online. This feature has been designed with Internet standards such as RTP, H.264 and XMPP, meaning this open source feature can be used by other apps on your PC (Third party apps).
You will soon see this feature in your Gmail inbox also. This feature has been especially developed by engineers in Sweden office. I don’t want to copy paste the instructions on using this feature because you can get it from official google’s post (I have linked above). If this feature turns out to provide really good uninterruptible video and voice quality, then skype will face real problem. Time for Ebay to look for skype buyers !
Apple iPod sound quality
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
I haven’t been much a fan of gadgets except iPhone. I haven’t heard much music on iPod either but yesterday when i herd it, i them came to know why iPod had such craze among geeks. The sound quality in their headphones is what actually fantastic with good storage features like of 8 GB, 16 GB, etc. The ability to transfer music files from your PC to iPod and vice-versa is great. The music quality seems as if you are sitting in some Dolby sound system Cinema hall. iPod rock ! Actually all products of Apple, the MacPro, iPhone and iPod. iPod has some great simple colours choice and they actually make its look quite cool and geeky. iPhone launched in India with great buzz but now i see no talks of it. Seems is fused out due to its high price and no 3G facility support from service providers.
CJ requires targetted traffic
Sunday, November 9th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
For those who are new to CJ (Commission Junction), CJ is an affiliate program where site owners or publishers meet worlds topmost advertisers and earn commission by selling their products via there site or blog. I have been trying out CJ and regret to say it isn’t working as i thought. I built castles. Would put CJ and earn commissions from sales. But its hard to make even one sale. Most depends upon how much targeted your site is. Like if you write about specific products category, like writing about laptop models, etc. More targeted and more interested you users are on products, likely they will buy it from your site if it provides good deal.

4 decades of laptop
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 | Tech news | No Comments
The ideas for portability in PC’s all started in 1968. It has taken 4 decades for us to reach here where we are today where you can get slim and ultra portable and exciting featured laptops. Developments in notebook has gone a long way, especially i suppose much development has taken in past 1 decade with developments in nanotechnology and other branches. Former Xerox PARC computer scientist Kay first had the vision in 1968 of developing what he termed ‘Dynabook’, something like portable PC’s. But what went was known as notebooks and laptops instead of ‘dynabook’. Well, that doesn’t matter because what we wanted was laptops, oops ‘dynabook’..whatever ! Every development starts with ideas and this was one of them.
