Boosting your productivity using two monitors
Thursday, March 20th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
I was just reading one interesting article at coding horror regarding using multiple monitors that may actually boost your productivity while working. I have never used 2 monitors for work but that post inclined to make me think how it could boost your productivity. Maybe you work faster, your minds run faster or what? Maybe psychologically you tend to catch more details. Also post says that size of monitor affects productivity. Survey conducted in 2003 says that 24 inch monitor users had highest productivity followed by 20 inch and then 18 inch. But that doesn’t mean that more the inches, more productive you are. 26 inches show relatively less productivity than 24 inch.
Increasing Productivity
Sunday, March 16th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
One thing that most of us online need to do is increasing productivity proportionally to your online work experience. But faster you do it, better for you. It really creates an impact when you can do 20 works in 5 hours instead of 15 works. It saves your lot of time and gives you more time to spend with your family or other works which interest you. Well, if your passion is working online than needless to say that you will increase your productivity unknowingly but its an advantage if you know where your time is consumed and if that can be minimized. Better do a quick investment if that can make you productive like - Having higher broadband speed internet or more faster laptop which can run many applications simultaneously without hanging or getting few web tools which can minimize your work, etc. but see that increasing productivity doesn’t cost you hefty, it should be in budget.
Stick to your niche
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
Plain and simply effective words - Stick to your niche. Or choose a niche where you can stick too. Don’t choose niche simply seeing the amount of money or renumeration or compensation it has. I did that and am repenting (yes parminder :) ). Its you who will create a niche. So if you are blogging on a specific topic or working online on some field which is not as popular field as technology is, dont ever try to turn to technology simply because there are lost of scopes and other things. If you excel in your niche, its best. Better than going to other field. You will see growth soon, but you need to have patience a lot. Maybe few years ?
If you keep changing your niches, you will soon get worn out. I dont mean to say here that you stop discovering new horizons. But i mean to say something related top this proverb ” A rolling stone gathers no moss ” . But do quit or implement a change if you see that you are going no where.
Office environment boosts productivity
Sunday, March 9th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
Office environment certainly boosts productivity of your employees, if you have an organized company office. This is quite logical, that a professional looking office environment will make your employees work more in tune with office design. If your office design is in type of a corporate and more disciplined look, then your employees will certainly work more productively and professionally. So make sure that you have a productive outlook of your office. If you actually see, office design doesn’t really cost heaps, its just the matter of designing your office that way and also consistently keeping that look rather than having a funny look. Also shabby office can reduce productivity of workers there because it will not make them feel that important and inspiring as in an well-organized office.
Noise pollution decreases productivity
Monday, March 3rd, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
Scientific research has shown that high level of noise pollution decreases your productivity in any work. They experimented this result after detailed evaluation of performances between two persons, one exposed to high-level of noise environment while other kept at silent and peaceful place. When both were given puzzles to solve, the one exposed to high level of noise pollution got frustrated and quit the puzzle while other guy calmly and thoughtfully continued the puzzle. This shows that high level of noise pollution disturbs our mental state and overall reduces our efficiency and productivity in any work.
Honesty pays
Sunday, February 17th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
Its the most simple but the wisest advice.Be honest anywhere. In your dealings, payments and work.It will help anyone in long run because you never know when one of your dishonesty may get caught and they charge you with a tag-’You have been dishonest in your work all your life’ and you simply can’t do anything.Better be honest and earn less than do cheating and gain 2 bucks more.Honesty also give you dignity of a true man which a dishonest millionaire can’t get at any cost.Self-satisfaction is one thing you naturally get by honesty and thats one big asset in increasing productivity. It is something you can’t buy with money, i mean honesty.Right?
The secret power of repetition
Sunday, February 10th, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
The title of the post justifies in brief what i mean to say here. It’s the power of repetition that can do wonders, though you will never come know when this wonders happened in your life. This post has close relation to this saying:
‘Practice makes a man perfect’
Sorry, this applies to womens also
But its about repeating the work and reading the same stuff that you gradually master in that area. You might find this although boring and silly in your life but just ponder for few seconds on fact that why is that, that you master on a topic while the same other guy says its very difficult for him while you argue over him that its quite simple.
Like my accuracy on computer is better than my dad.He says he can’t imagine how can you do all this.He says i must be obsessive about computers and internet. But i have to argue that its not obsessiveness, its the average 8 hours spending per day on computer past 2-3 years that i get my work done in a blink for which you spend 30 minutes and that too depreciated in quality.I regularly read the same basic seo stuff that more and more content and more and more links get you traffic via search engines.Plus i regularly read how to get traffic from social media and all that stuff. This i have been reading past an year and for a newbie,he says i am a SEO expert while i have to make him understand that i am no SEO expert but that i have been imbibing all this in my mind past an year. And if does this repetition , he will find no wonder in this.
The team at google which makes complex algorithms, might be a big project for someone else while they have mastered the basics over years and years that they find all this easy. It’s the same power of repetition.People who keep on repeating have mastered that point and automatically that comes to practice when they are put to actions.People who have been repeating might not notice this, but all this gets printed in your sub-conscious mind and it will seem comparatively easy for you than others.
So keep repeating your knowledge about seo because it’s not necessary that whenever you open your browser you must find new content.Repeating basics of your area only will help you mastering your field or niche, not that you learn fresh content everyday, that you would become successful ( i never said don’t read fresh content. That too is utmost necessary).
Basic Communication skills
Friday, February 1st, 2008 | Productivity | No Comments
One of the most important skills is communication.Communication skills have the advantage of reducing misconcepts and misunderstandings. Therefore it is vital that if you are in online business or any type of business where you have to communicate a lot(generally you do have to),it is necessary that you polish your communication skills.
1) Speaking: Speaking and talking is what we do a lot. While talking, the opposite person in short period of time judges your intellectual level and character.Even while you are attending interview for any job,the examiners will first see the way you speak, how confidently you speak because that gives them the idea how much capable and confident you are of your job work. Therefore speak clearly,be point to point and don’t bluff out words which are useless and have no importance on the topic or niche you are speaking on.Blabbering useless words creates a bad impression on others.Try to be precise.Speak less, mean more.
2) Writing: Written skills is another type of skill that we need in this mass era.You must have, if not excellent than fairly good writing skills which convey the message and point in short and clearly.Actions speak better than words, but i am confident here that words will speak of your actions.Especially while working online, your writing skills(chatting) are shown. This creates an impression about your character on the opposite person.I have many times witnessed that how much benefit in social and monetary terms writing skills can reward.
3) E-mail: Writing effective and impressive e-mail in todays era is also very important. This can be a handy communication tool to establish long relations and get work done effectively.
4)Negotiations: This is a vital skill in business where you have to deal with clients or employees. The margin of your profit and success depends upon this.If you lack this, you surely will incure loss of your profit.
Lack of good and proper communication skills can sometimes prove to be a loss of time or money or even your established credit.Communication skills reveals your true character and intelligence. No one stands nonsense. It is actually a proper implementation of your knowledge. So get your hands on work to polish your communication skills like speaking,writing,e-mail,bargains,etc. which can certainly boost your online productivity and even practical work efficiency.
